Smart Pedestrian Crossing System
The Smart Pedestrian Crossing System is an innovative solution for safe pedestrian crossings in intervention areas, utilizing automatic pedestrian presence detection and automated luminous signaling of the crossing.
The system detects pedestrians intending to cross via a smart sensor network. These sensors send a signal to automatically activate the LED panels embedded in the asphalt, accompanied by vertical LED signaling boards. The boards light up simultaneously with the LED panels in the asphalt, achieving the desired luminous signaling effect.
As a result, vehicle drivers can better and earlier detect the presence of pedestrians at crossings.
Signaling:
- Certified LED lighting according to EN 12352 standards and LED backlighting according to UNI 12899 standards.
Pedestrian Crossing Illumination:
When a pedestrian approaches, the crossing is illuminated with the recommended light level (100 lux). The light is distributed vertically and at the correct level and timing, ensuring the pedestrian is visible while crossing and waiting on the sidewalk.
Talos G and Talos N LED luminaires are specifically designed to illuminate crossings, creating contrast between the pedestrian and the surrounding environment, producing very high lighting levels compliant with the EN13201 standard.
SYSTEM TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
The crossing’s lighting significantly enhances vertical brightness compared to horizontal brightness provided by existing lighting. The waiting zones on the sidewalks near the crossing will also have adequate lighting.
The smart crossing creates a narrow, intense beam of light around the crossing, capturing drivers’ attention.
For two-way roads, the lighting poles will be installed diagonally to the crossing, preceding it for each pedestrian’s direction.
In the case of one-way roads, the poles will be installed facing each other, always preceding the crossing along the road’s direction.
Each pole will feature not only lighting fixtures but also illuminated signs and dual signal indicators.
